Ideally situated in the middle of possibly the most prolific stretch of the St. Lawrence River, the Riverview Motel offers a superb base for anglers to explore and discover a fishing experience second to none. Don’t be tied down to one spot, be a Free Spirit and roam the river and fish the islands or secluded bays.

CARP
Now firmly established as the carp capital of the world, the St. Lawrence River attracts carp anglers from all over the globe, who attempt to tame these hard fighting, unforgiving fish. The sheer power of these magnificent creatures, test the anglers skill and tackle to the limit. Fast glides, deep holes and secluded bays all contain carp, and the more bait you put in, the more the carp respond, with 10 to 20 fish caught in a day not uncommon. Sizes range from 15 lb to 50 lb, with 20 lb and 30 lb carp being the norm.

The St. Lawrence Junior World Carp tournament is held along this stretch, and it is also the selected stretch for the Senior World Carp Championships, need we say more!

Although the Riverview owners specialise in carp fishing, and your host Rob is a fully experienced carp angler, the river offers a tremendous variety of fish as many of our guests, past and present, will testify.

OTHER SPECIES
There are Muskie to 50 lb, Bass, Walleye, Northern Pike, Catfish and numerous pan fish. In fact something for everyone.

If you fancy an afternoon fun fishing, why not go for a spin on the Grasse River, just stop your car next to the river and walk straight in. With our light spinning rods and small lures, it’s almost a fish a cast, with Bass, Walleye and Chub being the main species. Everyone should try it at least once.

And don’t forget your New York State fishing licence, available from the local town hall or Walmart, this entitles you to fish with 2 rods.
